Back To FAQ Page Question: Can I use my browser like Internet Explorer to access the JPEG2000 DVR though the Internet? Will I have to install special software? Some surveillance systems seem to not require special software like the JPEG2000 DVR. Why? Answer: Hi there, There are no DVR systems on the market that we know of that are Internet accessible that do not require you to install software. Microsoft Windows security will usually block this type of software the first time you try to access the DVR using this method because there are security implications that go along with using your browser to install software. The two main reasons that Microsoft Windows will block this type of DVR software are because these DVR's require you to install Active-X and most DVR manufacturers don't have the money to Pay Microsoft to become a "Known Publisher" resulting in a "Unknown Publisher" error message. An example of getting around this error from Microsoft Windows can be seen at http://www.jpeg2000support.com/email_faq/activex-problem/. The DVR that we are selling that you asked about, the JPEG2000 DVMR works both ways. You can install the software that is shipped with the DVR or you can access it with your browser. Just like all the other DVR's in the market that we know of you will have to use the Acitve-X fix before the software can be installed. So, as you can see there are no DVR's that don't require software to be installed. There are just different ways of installing the software. One is just more secure then the other. If your interested in getting a demonstration of the two ways that I just spoke of
send a email to support@jpeg2000support.com
and ask about the demo. We will provide instructions on using both methods so that you can better understand what
we are talking about. Your making an investment when you purchase a surveillance system so you owe it to yourself to do your homework before buying. Thanks, |
